As a child I loved and still do, the delightful stories of Merlin and the Brothers Grimm and their illustrators like Arthur Rackham and Sir John Tenniel.  Inspiration from these fanciful realities has led me to create one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces and sculpted whimsical puppetry.

Process: My figurative work typically includes either a sculpted or illustrated face, both animal and human. I collect interesting objects to incorporate as embellishments, for a costume, or a body part. My interest in vibrant color and texture often brings metallic paints or unusual fine fabrics and trims into the process.

Evolving pursuits & mediums: Paper, watercolors, pen & ink, assembled into unexpected objects. Fusing fabrics, paper and clay with some slow stitching thrown in occasionally.

Intent: To transport the viewer to a magical place, create merry dispositions and conjure up a fond memory from days gone by, offering a brief and entertaining escape from the ordinary. After all, we’re never too old for fairy tales!

I currently live in Winthrop, Washington, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
